802.11b/g VoIP Gateway
The WGV414 is an all-in-one networking solution for homes and small to medium-size businesses. Its four switched 10/100-Mbps Ethernet ports can link up to four computers directly, or dozens of computers through daisy-chained hubs or switches. Its integrated IEEE 802.11b/g access point (AP) gives wireless clients access to the network at speeds up to 11 (802.11b) or 54 (802.11g) Mbps. Connected to a DSL or cable modem, it provides network users with high-speed broadband Internet access. Its two foreign exchange subscriber (FXS) ports let the user attach ordinary telephones and enjoy extraordinary savings by making calls over the Internet instead of the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

The embedded DHCP server automatically configures computers on the network for access to the Internet. Firewall and NAT functions protect the network from outside intruders. Wireless security can be ensured by WEP, WPA, or WPA2 authentication and encryption. MAC and IP address filters provide further control over access to the network, while internal users' access to the Internet can also be filtered. To allow authorized access from the outside, DMZ host, VPN passthrough, and VPN endpoint features are available. A setup wizard makes initial configuration quick and easy. A built-in browser-based configuration and management utility gives the user point-and-click control of all functions.

Working with DSL or cable, packed with the features both families and businesses want, providing both wired and wireless network access and low-cost Internet telephony, the WGV414 is a gateway to a new world of flexible and economical connectivity.

Features and Benefits

  • Wireless Internet Access
There is no need to run an Ethernet cable to the router for network access. The IEEE 802.11g standard lets users access the LAN and the Internet at speeds up to 54 Mbps. Users with 802.11b clients are not left out: the AP can support an 11b-only, 11g-only, or mixed 11b/g environment, protecting any previous investment in 802.11b equipment.

  • Integrated Four-port Auto-sensing MDI/MDI-X Fast Ethernet Switch
By automatically adjusting to the speed of each client and the polarity of the cable, the built-in switch makes connecting multiple computers for Internet access economical and easy. Four computers can be connected directly to the switch, or dozens can be connected through hubs or additional switches.
  • User-friendly Setup and Management
A setup wizard is provided to make initial configuration quick and easy. All setup, management, and monitoring functions can be accessed through the easy-to-use, built-in browser-based configuration and management utility. Users will feel right at home, managing the router and the network through their browser of choice.

  • Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
Two FXS ports allow ordinary telephones to be plugged in for extraordinary savings through VoIP. The VoIP framework used by the WGV414 is the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), an open Internet standard and the choice of most VoIP providers today.
